Red Snapper souffle at La Grenouille, circa 1979, or maybe January of 1980?

Wow... I once had the luxury of dining at the hyper expensive, 5 star rated restaurant: La Grenouille!

My late boss was into opera, bless his heart! OK, I wasn't into opera, but I was into "Haircut 100" and "The Thompson Twins." Um, maybe they came a few years later, but you know what I mean...

Anyway, Don took his crew, who had labored through the night, to dinner at one of New York's most expensive and best restaurants of the time. For some reason, they seated us next to the kitchen door. I guess we didn't have a reservation. I'll never forget the souffle. .... my first ever! It was so good and puffy- straight from the kitchen door! I haven't had anything like it since.

Well, enough of that for tonight as this oldster needs to take a well deserved nap.

xoxo,
